Welcome to Below the Fold! The weekend update for Premium subscribers. Maybe you’ll laugh, maybe you’ll cry. Hopefully the former.
"The more you move, the easier it is to keep moving. Maintain the momentum." - James Clear
First of all, how the hell does James Clear make up all these quotable one-liners? It’s amazing. And as I’ve typed the previous sentence I figured ‘why not see how long I’ve been following this guy?"‘
Lo and behold I’ve been subscribed to James Clear’s newsletter since 2014!
With that context, it makes a lot more sense to me how these types of people (Seth Godin comes to mind too) can create content on a whole different level…or maybe they have a bunch of ghostwriters behind the scenes? 😂
And I guess that’s what I’m doing, but I’m only 6 months in. You can say I’m taking an accelerated approach by writing and publishing 5x per week vs 1-2x per week.
By no means am I saying that I will become a James Clear — they’ve been at this for a looooong time. I’m an ‘infant’ in this space because I literally am, I’m a 6 month old writing baby.
But babies grow up into toddlers, kids, then adults. Maybe 1 Creator Year = 7 Human Years, like dogs? We’ll see. Just have to keep the momentum going. As I continue pushing the pace and consistence, that’s when the magic starts happening ✨
Perks Recap
No perks for Premium subs this week. However I still have one in the pipeline I’m excited about and let’s just say there’s a physical component to it. Finalizing details of what I can provide to you premium subs 😉
Waiting for the product to arrive so I can do a proper writeup about it!

It was great to travel and speak at a conference and visit the LinkedIn HQ, but now I’m looking forward to hunkering back down.
Content Partners and Selling: Over the past 6 weeks, companies have been reaching out to me to work together. I’ve gotten a better grasp of what these potential clients were looking for and how they perceived me and my services.
Though I can do many things with the skillset I’ve been building around writing, I realized that it’s better for me to focus on what I already provide today vs. catering to the potential client as I’m grateful that I still have financial runway to support myself.
And as I solidify the content partnership offering, I can then scale up other offerings.
Other media formats: Getting on the Crypto Business podcast was a great way to get more subscribers and help my brand cover other platforms. Also great for SEO since most podcasts have a Youtube version now. Recording another one in a few days :)
Personal
Nara (my cat): A and I are finally letting Nara upstairs! She’s been with us for 5 months now and we’ve been hesitant to let her up since she has scratched our furniture. Fortunately, she’s is easy to train so we’ve gradually given her more ‘upstairs’ time. Whenever she does something we don’t want her to do like claw at a chair or jump on a countertop we spray her with some water and she freaks out, lol.
Now she hangs out with us upstairs during the evenings 😸
Cats on cats on cats!
Downtime every day: I’ve been trying to give myself some time away from work every evening. I watched The Redeem Team and Jo Koy’s Live from the LA Forum and both had inspirational themes for me.
What hit me in the feels was a segment in Jo Koy’s special where he shares a vulnerable moment. When he was preparing to film his first Netflix special, Netflix called him two days prior and told him that they didn’t want it anymore. Jo decided he was going to move forward, paid for the whole production, and even edited the special himself. He went back to Netflix with the finished product and eventually they ended up buying his special. And now Jo Koy has 4 Netflix specials, is in multiple movies, and is a worldwide comedy superstar.
Maybe it’s age, but I started crying watching this segment. As cliché as it is, Jo kept believing in himself even though the odds were against him.
It feels the same for me. I pretty much a nobody, but honestly I sorta don’t give a fuck because I believe in what I’m doing. And if I fail, one of you will offer me a job…right…?
